Patna: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised for a sweeping win in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, with the JD(U)-BJP combine leading in more than 200 seats. This marks the alliance’s most dominant performance since 2010, when it secured 206 out of 243 seats. In contrast, the NDA had won 125 seats with a 37.26% vote share in the 2020 polls.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP won 74 of the 110 seats it contested, registering a strike rate of 67.27%. With a 19.46% vote share, it became the second-largest party after the RJD.
This time, the BJP is poised to become the largest party in the state, leading in 95 constituencies and recording a vote share of around 21.18% at the time of reporting. If the trend holds, it will mark the first instance of the BJP emerging as Bihar’s single-largest party.
JD(U)
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls, the JD(U) contested 122 seats but managed to win only 43, securing 15.39% of the total votes and recording a strike rate of 35.24%.
In the 2025 election, the scenario is quite different. JD(U) fielded candidates in 101 constituencies and is ahead in 82 of them, reflecting an impressive strike rate of 81.18%. The party has also improved its vote share to 18.92%.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas)
In the 2020 Bihar elections, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV) fielded candidates in 137 constituencies but managed to win only one seat.
In 2025, the party scaled down to 28 seats and is leading in 19, securing an impressive 67.85% vote share.
Meanwhile, the RJD — long boasting about being the “single largest party” — is struggling this time, holding leads in fewer than 30 constituencies. The Congress, contesting 61 seats, has also disappointed once again, with leads in under five seats.
What Exit Polls Predicted around the Bihar Assembly Elections?
Most exit polls for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections projected a clear advantage for the NDA, estimating around 147 seats out of 243. The Mahagathbandhan is expected to secure close to 90 seats. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party may bag between one and five seats, while smaller parties could together win around five seats.
