Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection:
Kantara Chapter 1 is on a dream run at the box office. After delivering two phenomenal days, the Rishab Shetty starrer kept the momentum alive on Saturday as well. In no time, the film has secured its place among the year’s top Indian grossers, all before its first weekend could end.
Kantara Chapter 1 box office update

By Friday, Kantara Chapter 1 had amassed ₹107 crore net across India. The film opened with a massive ₹61.85 crore on Dussehra, followed by an impressive ₹46 crore on its second day. Saturday too kept the momentum high, with early estimates by Sacnilk placing the collection at ₹55 crore net. With this, the film’s three-day domestic tally has soared to ₹162.85 crore.
On Friday, Kantara Chapter 1 set a new benchmark by outshining Su From So’s lifetime total of ₹92 crore net, thereby claiming the crown of this year’s highest-grossing Kannada film. The winning run carried into Saturday as well, with the movie surpassing the final tallies of Salman Khan’s Sikandar (₹110 crore) and Ram Charan’s Game Changer (₹131 crore). Impressively, it also crossed ₹150 crore on the same day, a rare accomplishment for a Kannada release.
Kantara Chapter 1 is making waves internationally too, having collected more than $2.5 million (approx. ₹22 crore) across overseas markets in just its first two days. With the weekend still ahead, the film is poised to post an even stronger total.
All about Kantara Chapter 1

Kantara Chapter 1 acts as the prequel to the 2022 phenomenon Kantara, a film that surprised the industry by earning more than ₹400 crore globally against a ₹15 crore budget. Directed and penned by Rishab Shetty, this installment unfolds a thousand years prior to the first story, with Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah joining him in pivotal roles.
Kantara Chapter 1 (Kantara 2) Box Office Collection Day 2:
To put this into perspective, the first Kantara had managed only around ₹4.6 crore net in its first two days, making the sequel’s thunderous start all the more striking. The original eventually collected just over ₹400 crore worldwide, and remarkably, Kantara Chapter 1 has already covered a fourth of that in merely two days. With such momentum, the film looks poised for a massive weekend that could see it cross the ₹200 crore mark.
Interestingly, earlier this year, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 too arrived as the second part of a popular franchise. That film earned ₹110 crore in two days, similar to Shetty’s prequel. However, unlike War 2, which fizzled out despite its strong opening, Kantara Chapter 1 seems to have the legs for a far more successful run.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has stormed into cinemas with a power that few films in recent memory have matched. Serving as a prequel to the 2022 sleeper sensation Kantara, the film carries forward the mystique and grandeur of its predecessor while expanding the universe a thousand years into the past. Written and directed by Shetty himself, this ambitious project has struck a deep chord with audiences across India and overseas.
The film’s opening has been nothing short of historic. On its release day, coinciding with Dussehra, Kantara Chapter 1 collected a staggering ₹61.85 crore, followed by ₹46 crore on Friday. Saturday maintained the momentum with another ₹55 crore, taking the domestic net to ₹162.85 crore in just three days. Overseas, the film has fared equally well, grossing over $2.5 million (approximately ₹22 crore) in its first two days, proving its universal appeal.
This performance is particularly striking when compared to the first film. The 2022 Kantara managed a modest ₹4.6 crore in its first two days, but went on to earn over ₹400 crore worldwide on a budget of just ₹15 crore. In contrast, the prequel has already amassed nearly a quarter of that total within its opening frame, setting the stage for an even more lucrative run.
The cast, led by Rishab Shetty, features Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah in pivotal roles, adding depth and gravitas to the narrative. With its blend of action, mythology, and folklore, the film is resonating with both urban and rural audiences.
As the weekend unfolds, trade analysts predict Kantara Chapter 1 could breach the ₹200 crore mark, cementing its place as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. For Rishab Shetty, it is a reaffirmation of his unique cinematic voice and the franchise’s growing cultural footprint.
